Liberty Bowl pictures

A few pictures from tonight's Liberty Bowl, Kentucky vs East Carolina. (Until a few days ago, I didn't even know "East Carolina" was a school, but whatevs...) I won tickets at work, since St. Jude is a main sponsor of the bowl. Years ago, all employees got free tickets, you just had to go stand in line in the main lobby of the hospital to get them. Now they have a raffle and you have to win tickets, and THEN to pick them up you must hike it across the street to the building where PR is housed. And they cancelled shuttle services a few months back, so we have to walk. Spoiled? Yes. I think they do this knowing only about 5% of employees are willing to walk across campus, even for something free.

Anywho... here is the night coming up over the stadium.

Robert and I at the game.

I have a serious phobia of mascots. I hate them. HATE them. I can't see their eyes, and it creeps me out. Are they looking at me? Are they about to attack me? I don't know, and I'm not willing to take a chance. Years ago the Grizzlies players were up at the hospital, and Grizz the mascot came with...I was walking thru the lobby and Grizz grabbed me and gave me a big bear hug (har har) and I almost had a heart attack.

Robert was going to get me one of these cameras for Xmas, but he opted for the pink Canon instead.

Sara Evans sang at halftime (famous country singer?)

It's never good when you're trying to catch a punt return and you find yourself staring down at the ball laying at your feet.

The Liberty Bowl at night....we left after the 3rd quarter to come home and watch the Bama game. It's halftime and it's not going too hot so far :-/

Ah, yes. East Carolina. The finest party school in North Carolina. Seriously, that's their reputation. Most people flunk out. But they are freakishly loyal to their sports teams.

What IS the Liberty Bowl?? Why are there so many bowls?? You blogged a lot today- do you ever leave the computer :) And I'm glad that I know your kryptonite....mascots. You know Libby was the Hawkeye...hehe.

Meg - Yes!! Even though this is SEC country, there were a zillion ECU fans here. And they were LOUD and DRUNK. Haha. I read on another blog they have 27,000 students there?! That's huge. I can't believe I had never heard of this school before. Of course, maybe 25,000 of them are freshmen waiting to drop out :)

Meghan - oh yes, I always think of that. Hopefully they made Herky shower.

Aww..that looks fun! I won't tell my friend Kendall..he is the mascot for the Baylor Bears..he is the bear. HEHE! Your blog is too fun! The reason I know about East Carolina is because they are ECU and that's the same initials as the college I went to except mine is even more unknown!

Judging from the fans downtown this past week, I don't think there was a person left in North Carolina!

That is great that you got tix and I can completely understand the fear of mascots. Hip Hop the bunny always freaks me out at Sixers games.

You may not know this either, but there's also a Western Carolina, which isn't anywhere near as big as East Carolina, and I think they have a slightly better retention rate when it comes to people enrolling and not failing miserably.

For those keeping score at home, that's North, East and West Carolina, all here in North Carolina. No wonder South Carolina has such a little brother complex.
